Our History

The company was founded by S.Ramasamy in 1941. From small beginnings, the company has seen healthy growth over the decades. A remarkable number of early buildings and projects are still standing today, this puts an emphasis on the quality and effort for our long-term commitment and customer relationships.

The company diversified its operations undertaking full-fledged construction services.

We undertook our first major commercial project at Thirumangalam.

The company pioneered the first RCC Framed Structure construction model for a chain of Education sector projects.

1957

We received the Kattida Kalingar Award from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru Mr. Kamaraj for the construction of the 10,000 Sq.ft NVS Higher Secondary School.

Our Father S.Ramasamy retires from his position in the company.

1976

Name changed to R. Alaguraj Builders after the succession of our Managing Director R. Alaguraj.

R. Alaguraj Builder receives an Award from TN Public Works Department Minister Shri K.K.S.S. Ramachandran for constructing the 10,000 Sq.ft Nagarathinam Marriage Hall

We constructed our next remarkable Education sector project, the 75,000 Sq.ft. Devasakayam Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Pasumalai, Madurai.

We constructed the next-tier education project 65,000 Sq.ft. Sermathai Vasan College at Avaniyapuram, Madurai.

We received an Award from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Dr.M.Karunanidhi for constructing the 21,000 Sq.ft Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry – the state of the art of its kind.

We proved our project management efficiency when we constructed the 50,000 Sq.ft. Pioneer Meenakshi College at Poovandhi, Madurai in just 180 days.

The same year we received an Award from Union Minister for Railways Shri A.K. Moorthy for constructing MEPCO Mini Auditorium

We constructed the 1,25,000 Sq.ft. SVN College at Nagamali Pudukottai, Madurai. The same year we received an Award from Union Minister for Railways Shri A.K. Moorthy for constructing MEPCO Mini Auditorium

We received an Award from Actor Puratchi Kalaingar Vijaykanth for constructing the 10,000 sq.ft NVS Primary School, South Gate, Madurai - building sponsored by KASS Sekar.

We received an Award from Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers Shri M.K. Azhagiri for constructing the 60,000 Sq.ft Malar Residency at Mattuthavani, Madurai.

We received an Award from Minister for Revenue/Disaster Management and Information Technology Shri R.B. Udhaya Kumar for constructing the 1,60,000 Sq.ft Nagarathinam Angalammal Arts & Science College, Madurai.

We received an Award from Vasanth TV Network for constructing the 40,000 Sq.ft Nippon Furniture Showroom, the largest furniture showroom in Madurai
