R. Alaguraj Builders, formerly known as ‘Ramasamy Building Contractor’ was founded in the year 1941, by our Father KATTIDA KALAINGAR Mr. S. Ramaswamy, a builder and entrepreneur in Madurai – whose skills and techniques had garnered numerous recognition back in the era. He believed that construction is not just a business activity but an opportunity to provide ethical solutions in every way possible. With the same commitment and values in mind and over 80 years (Eight Decades) of expertise, we now stand as a pioneer in the industry.

We have ample experience gained from working many decades in all facets of the construction industry. We are a hands-on organization, our executive team’s active involvement in the day-to-day operations has played an integral part in shaping the evolution of the company over the years. The willingness of our dedicated team to always go the extra mile to ensure top-notch professionalism has been a key factor in enabling the company to forge lasting bonds with numerous satisfied customers.

Our History

The company was founded by Kattida Kalaignar, S.Ramasamy in 1941. From small beginnings, the company has seen healthy growth over the decades. A remarkable number of early buildings and projects are still standing today, this puts an emphasis on the quality and effort for our long-term commitment and customer relationships.

The company was founded by our Father Mr. S. Ramasamy.

1941

The company diversified its operations, undertaking full-fledged construction services.

1946

The company successfully completed it’s first major commercial project at Thirumangalam

1949

The company became pioneers in Madurai - for constructing the first RCC-framed civil structures for a series of education sector projects.

1957

We were awarded the title ‘Kattida Kalingar’ by the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru Mr. Kamaraj, in recognition and for the construction of the 10,000 sq.ft NVS Higher Secondary School.

1962

Our Founder, Kattida Kalingar ‘Mr. S. Ramasamy’ retires from his position in the company, and the company was renamed ‘R.Alaguraj Builders’ following the succession of our Managing Director, Mr. R.Alaguraj.

1976 - 1977

R. Alaguraj Builders received an award from the then TN Public Works Department Minister Thiru K.K.S.S. Ramachandran for the construction of the 10,000 Sq.ft Nagarathinam Marraige Hall.

1986

We successfully constructed the ‘state of the art’ education building project. 75,000 sq.ft Devasakayam Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Pasumalai, Madurai.

1990

We successfully constructed the 65,000 sq.ft Sermathai Vasan College at Avaniyapuram, Madurai.

1997

R. Alaguraj Builders received an award from the then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Dr.M.Karunanidhi for the construction of the sophisticated 21,000 Sq.ft Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry building, Madurai.

2000

The company showcased its capability and exceptional project management skills by constructing the 50,000 Sq.ft. Pioneer Meenakshi College at Poovandhi, Madurai in just under 180 days.

2001

R. Alaguraj Builders received an Award from the then Union Minister for Railways Shri A.K. Moorthy for constructing the MEPCO Mini Auditorium, Madurai.

2002

The company demonstrated its expertise and efficiency by successfully delivering the expansive 1,25,000 Sq.ft. SVN College, Education sector project at Nagamalai Pudukottai, Madurai.

2003

R. Alaguraj Builders received an Award from the then Actor & Politician Puratchi Kalaingar Mr. Vijaykanth for constructing the 10,000 sq.ft NVS Primary School, Madurai.

2004

R. Alaguraj Builders received an Award from the then Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers Shri M.K. Azhagiri for successfully delivering the 60,000 Sq.ft Malar Residency at Mattuthavani, Madurai.

2008

R. Alaguraj Builders received an Award from the Minister for Revenue/Disaster Management and Information Technology Shri R.B. Udhaya Kumar for the successful construction of the 1,60,000 Sq.ft Nagarathinam Angalammal Arts & Science College, Madurai.

2015

R. Alaguraj Builders received the ‘Best Builder’ Award from Vasanth TV Network for the successful construction of the 40,000 Sq.ft Nippon Furniture Showroom, the largest furniture showroom in Madurai.

2018

R. Alaguraj Builders received an award from the Commissioner of Police for the construction of Recreation & Amenity Building at the Madurai Commissioner Office, Madurai.

2021

Our People
